Gallery: Performance parking on Festival of Speed Saturday

26th June 2022
Andrew Willis

With Saturday’s mid-afternoon sun beating down, we stretched our legs around the Performance Parking zones of the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard.

At the halfway point of the event, the crowds were out in force, cooing over a vast range of performance cars shimmering in the heat haze. By far the busiest turn out of the weekend so far, the Performance Parking zone could have justified its very own entrance fee.

With Porsches, McLarens, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Alpines, BMWs, Rolls-Royces, Maseratis, Mercedes, Caterhams, and Lancias all lined up in neat little rows, there was hardly a marque not represented.

From the very latest Audi e-tron GTs, to a mint condition Lotus Esprit Turbo. Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglios to a three-ship of Lamborghini Urus’s parked cheek to jowl. There were lumps of expensive metal and carbon fibre for everyone’s tastes. The question is, can Sunday’s punters bring the festival to an even better climactic close?
