BMW to debut 3.0 CSL and 5 Series at 2023 Festival of Speed

A broad selection of BMW’s latest models will be on display at this year’s Festival, alongside the new 5 Series, we’ll get a closer look at the new M2, the M3 CS and the 560PS (412kW) 3.0 CSL, with a cohort of EVs in attendance as well, among them the i7 M70 xDrive and the bold XM Label Red.

The M3 CS, with its 550PS (405kW) in-line six-cylinder engine, will be taking to the Hill alongside the new 5 Series, and two hydrogen cars: the H2R, a car that set nine world records back in 2004, will complete the Hillclimb with an adapted 6.0-litre 12-cylinder engine taken from the 760i, and the new BMW iX5 Hydrogen will be showcasing BMW’s latest hydrogen fuel cell tech.

Sat inside the cars will be a line-up of BMW’s BTCC stars, including four-time champion Colin Turkington, Jake Hill, Stephen Jelley, and Adam Morgan, alongside endurance racer Charlie Martin.

BMW’s presence isn’t limited to the Hill, however. The brand will also be featured at the Stable Yard, where it will be showcasing its timeline of electrification, beginning with the 1602e, BMWs first-ever electric concept car, through a list of electrified models that includes the 525e and the i8, the new i5 and the latest i7 M70 xDrive.

There will also be an array of BMW M machinery on display on the BMW stand, from the new M2 to the M3 Touring, which made its own global debut at the Festival of Speed in 2022, the M8 Convertible and the (750PS (552kW) XM Label Red, which is to date BMW M’s most powerful creation.

You’ll also not want to miss an opportunity to get up close and personal with the 3.0 CSL Batmobile, which will be on display along with the 2002 Turbo.
