2023 Festival of Speed has begun!
Welcome to the 2023 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard! The sun is shining, the covers are coming off the hundreds of stunning vehicles that'll be blasting up the Hill over the weekend, and many of the most famous names in motorsport are descending on Goodwood.
This year marks 30 years since the inaugural event, since when it has grown from a modest collection of famous cars and drivers to the world's biggest celebration of all things cars and motorsport. With such a big anniversary, it would have been rude not to go all-out, so the 2023 Festival promises to be one of the best yet.
The theme for the 2023 Festival is 'Goodwood 75', marking not just 30 years of the Festival but three-quarters of a century of motoring and motorsport at Goodwood, the Motor Circuit having opened back in 1948. On the Hill there will be a dedicated Goodwood 75 hillclimb batch, split into several eras featuring some of the most incredible cars and motorcycles ever created – The Racing Years (1948-1966), The Testing Years (post-1966), 30 Years of the Festival of Speed (1993-2023), Racing Returns (1998-2023) and The Next 75 Years.
The Central Feature this year celebrates Porsche, as not only is it 75 years since the company's first sportscar, the Porsche 356, but also 60 years since the first Porsche 911. Sitting higg in the sky atop the Central Feature you'll spot a 997 Sport Classic, 992, 962, 963, 356 and 804. What's more, there will be daily displays taking place outside of Goodwood House and a dedicated parade of cars from the Stuttgart company.
Elswhere you'll find the usual preposterous collection of cars and motorcycles, with the newest supercars down in the First Glance presented by Heycar paddock. Electric Avenue presented by BP Pulse is the place to be if you want to see the very latest electric cars, while Future Lab presented by Randox is where you can learn about the revolutionary new ideas, inventions, concepts and innovations of tomorrow.
