Are you excited for the 2022 Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard? Silly question – of course you are, and so are we. And now we have the timetable to get stuck into.

The four-day motoring extravaganza, now in its 29th year, kicks off on Thursday 23rd June, the gates opening at 07:00 before the Hill action begins at 09:00. A big part of Thursday is seeing all the latest and greatest road cars from the world’s manufacturers, with a number of world debuts due to take place before the cars run throughout the day. There are also rally and off-road machines taking to the hillclimb, and at 10:30 the Goodwood Action Sports gets going with a warm-up show. The Red Arrows will roar across the skies at 12:30, the first of three displays scheduled for the weekend, the Forest Rally Stage opens at 13:00 and the action at the Britpart Off-Road Arena kicks off at 13:30. Driftkahana practice is at 16:20, so expect plenty of smoke.

Friday is where things kick on a gear. We’ve got pre-war racers, drift cars, Group B rally cars, NASCARs, supercars, an entire batch of Ferrari and Group C machines and more. The 2022 Festival of Speed is all about ‘The Innovators – masterminds of motorsport’, and so a batch to note is the one that sets off for the first time that weekend at 10:40, ‘Sparks of Genius and Racing Motorcycles’. F1 cars will run for the first time there, too. At 11:35 we’ll have a number of BMW M’s finest firing up the Hill, a nod to the division of BMW responsible for some of the most raucous road and race cars ever made, before at 12:15 a special BMW M moment begins at the front of Goodwood House.

Saturday begins with a selection of rally cars, Lancias (think Stratos, Fulvia, 037 Evo 2, Delta S4, Delta HF Integrale and more) and terrifically loud NASCAR monsters. The superb Blades display team will be buzzing around overhead at 12:40, Driftkhana round run is at 13:15 and at 15:10 we’ll be present for a truly special moment as motorcycle racing legend Wayne Rainey is interviewed on the balcony of Goodwood House. At 15:30 you’ll want to have a view of the Forest Rally Stage as it’s the stage shootout, and then back on the Hill at 16:10 for the Timed Shootout qualifying. Driftkhana round two is at 16:55.

Finally, Shootout Sunday, and what better way to start the day than with the very oldest cars at the event, the wild pre-war machines. The day is, like Saturday, a mix of racers and road cars, and after the BMW M cars have been up the Hill at 11:35. At 12:10 there will be a BMW M moment and fireworks outside of the House, with 25 M cars under the shadow of the 50 Years of BMW M Central Feature. The Driftkhana final is at 13:15, the Britpart Off-Road Arena Shootout at 13:30. At 15:20, 1992 F1 world and 1993 IndyCar champion Nigel Mansell will take to the balcony of Goodwood House for an interview, and then, at 15:30, the climax of the weekend, the Timed Shootout. Can anyone get close to 2021’s winning time set by Rob Bell in a McLaren 720 GTX of 45.01 seconds? Will anything get close to the McLaren MP4-13’s official record time of 41.6 seconds set in 1999? Could someone crack the 39.9-second time laid down in practice by Romain Dumas in 2019 in the Volkswagen ID.R? We can’t wait to find out. Supercars and road bikes will bring the event to a close at 18:20.

Don’t forget that if you don’t have a ticket, the whole thing will be available to watch live and in full right here on GRR. The timetable, although full, is still provisional, so remember it is subject to changes even on event days.
