Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus will debut the its SCG007 Hypercar, set to race at Spa and the Le Mans 24 Hours, at the Goodwood Festival of Speed presented by Mastercard in 2021.

The 007 is only the second car launched to the new Le Mans Hypercar regulations that the World Endurance Championship’s top class will run to from 2021.

As well as the 007, in the Michelin Supercar Paddock will be the road-going SCG 004S. The carbon-fibre supercar has a 650PS (478kW) V8 engine and is derived from the 004C track car. Fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox the $460,000 supercar will make its debut in the paddock as well as a dynamic debut on the Hill.

The new 007 made its testing debut at the end of February at the Italian circuit of Vallelunga. That testing continues this week at Monza, with drivers Pipo Derani and Ryan Briscoe joining Goodwood Hill outright record holder Romain Dumas in the driver’s seat.

The 007 is powered by a 3.5-litre V8 engine developed by French company Pipo Moteurs. Relatively unknown, Pipo has a track record of building engines for rallying, most recently with Peugeot and Ford. LMH rules dictate a maximum power output of 680PS (500kW), with the SCG 007 set to run on petrol power alone, unlike its competitor – the Toyota GR010 – which will run on petrol and hybrid electric power.

By 2023 it will be joined in the Hypercar class by Peugeot and Ferrari, with the class potentially also bolstered by the addition of cars from the IMSA championship’s upcoming LMDh category. Already confirmed for the new class are Porsche, Audi and Acura.

If Glickenhaus does manage to win the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2021, it will be the first American car to do so in over 50 years; Ford’s final win with the GT40 1969.

In January Glickenhaus confirmed that the 007 will be driven by a seven driver line-up of double Le Mans winner Romain Dumas, sportscar regulars Pipo Derani, Richard Westbook, Oliver Pla, Gustavo Menezes and Franck Mailleux and former IndyCar racer Ryan Briscoe.
