The 8 January marks National Labrador Day, and we’re delighted to join in with the celebrations. From their consistent loyalty, heaps of energy and unconditional affection, it is easy to see why this breed of dog is one of the nation’s favourites.

In honour of the occasion, The Duke of Richmond posed with a line-up of lucky Labradors for some stylish snaps at The Kennels, located on the Goodwood Estate and is the heart of the Goodwoof event site.

Below are four perfectly posing Labradors in The Library Room. On the left of the sofa, we have 18-month year old Bonnie the black Labrador, Rufus the red fox Labrador perched in the middle of the sofa, Badger the chocolate Labrador sitting on the right of the sofa and Autumn, the blonde Labrador laying in front of the sofa

Despite being overly excited at the opportunity to be models for the day, all Labradors involved in the photoshoot with The Duke of Richmond were extremely well-behaved and naturals in front of the camera. For more behind the scenes footage of the day, check out our Goodwoof socials.

We recently announced that at Goodwoof 2024, we will be celebrating the Labrador through our dedicated parade held each morning of the event. This beloved breed is one which is close to the Estate’s heart, with The Duke of Richmond’s grandfather owning a black Labrador, Bruce.

Fellow pooches tested out a couple of exquisitely designed kennels from previous years in the Goodwoof exclusive Barkitecture competition, held at the event each year. Bob, the blonde Labrador chilled out in the ‘Dome-Home’ kennel designed by Foster + Partner’s in 2022 whilst Dylan, the black Labrador relaxed in the ‘Barc’ kennel also designed by Foster + Partner’s in 2023.

For the first time in Goodwoof history, the celebratory parade will take place on both Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 May. Led by The Duke of Richmond, hundreds of Labradors and their owners will take centre stage and gather in front of Goodwood House before making their way down onto the Goodwoof event site, ending in front of The Kennels.

To find out how you can be part of the free parade each day the event, click here. Plus, use our promotional code LABRADOR50 to receive 50% off your Goodwoof admission tickets. Terms and conditions apply.
