Goodwood Crane Authorisation

Thank you for submitting this form. We will review your application and respond to your request in due course.

Due to the potential physical and technical effects that tall construction equipment may have on aerodrome operations and flight safety, Goodwood Aerodrome should be consulted on any temporary obstacles of significance, such as cranes or other tall construction equipment in the local area.  Generally, any crane or high lift device that exceeds 10m above ground level must be referred to the aerodrome operator.

Goodwood Aerodrome refers developers and crane operators to the British Standard Institute Code of Practice for the safe use of Cranes, BS 7121 Part 1. Paragraph 12.3.3 reads “The appointed person should consult the aerodrome/airfield manager for permission to work if a crane is to be used within 6km of the aerodrome/airfield and its height exceeds 10 m or that of the surrounding structures or trees”. The CAA also publishes guidance for all crane operators.

A permit to work must also be completed on the day of the planned works by the Health & Safety Team.

Please note we have a minimum notification period of 14 days to provide the details to us.
