Culinary Academy

The Culinary Academy has been designed to inspire, nurture and motivate young people from the local area into the industry.

Overview

A one to two-year engagement that will equip the trainee with in-depth, on-the-job training in all aspects of food preparation, food production, safety, and basic costings, whilst gaining industry-recognised qualifications and professional kitchen experience.

Launched in 2018, the two-year programme equips trainees with in-depth on-the-job training in all aspects of food so they can become "industry ready" chefs.

Year One Review

A rotating programme of six-week placements Goodwood offers a broad range of experiences like nowhere else. A rotating programme of on-site six-week placements in the following business areas at Goodwood: Home Farm – our free-range organic farm Dairy and Cheese Making, plus Home Farm Butchery Farmer, Butcher, Chef & The Bar & Grill The Kennels & Hound Lodge Goodwood House & Motor Circuit, and Goodwood Art Foundations "24"

International Salon Culinaire

Award Winning Apprentices

Olivia Reardon, one of our Apprentice Chef’s, won The Apprentice Skills Challenge at this year’s International Salon Culinaire. The competition involves 1000 competitors and takes place in London, judged by Chef’s from The Dorchester, House of Commons, House of Lords, The Ritz, The Berkely and The Peninsula, to name but a few. Olivia made it to the final 20 for her Class and then went on to the final cook off when she beat the remanding 8 competitors to Gold!

Olivia Reardon

Olivia started her Level 3 Apprenticeship journey with us at Goodwood in September 2024 and has gone from strength to strength in her culinary ability and skills. Her dishes are always meticulously planned and executed, creating food across the Estate that demonstrates her passion for food and learning new skills towards perfecting her trade – a great result, congratulations Olivia.
