There are some rallies that are taken very, very seriously by all those involved. And that applies to plenty of historic rallies that occur across both Europe and the world in general. And then there's a very specific class of historic rallies that, sure, has a competitive element, but in large part that takes a back seat. Like, the Eifel Rallye Festival.
Video: Rallying doesn't have to be totally serious
Which, unsurprisingly, is what this video showcases. What do we mean by the competitive element taking a back seat? It's things like a Ford Mustang being drifted viciously around some tight hairpins or a 964 Porsche 911 coming into a hairpin so hot that it ends up facing in completely the opposite direction.
And that is what makes this near 20-minute compilation completely spellbinding. These are historic and important rally cars, but every single person there is just focused on having fun and enjoying what these cars are capable of. It's the kind of joyous automotive fun that we at Goodwood Road & Racing can very much get behind.
